Local 5th grader receives a Make-A-Wish slumber party

Make-A-Wish and local residents gave a local 5th grader a day to remember. Reagan Seay and 29 of her closest friends left on a bus for a fun, action packed sleepover. The party with her friend's is Reagan's wish granted by Make a Wish Mid-Atlantic.

Christmas Day will never be the same for 18-year-old Jimmy Martino. “December 25, 2016,” he recalled. After months of excruciating headaches he finally went to the hospital. “Got an MRI. They found the mass in my brain." Jimmy was diagnosed with brain cancer. He'd have surgery the next day followed by months of radiation and chemo.

Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and JetBlue are sending three local children and their families on a trip to Walt Disney World. Volunteers greeted the children as they arrived in limousines at Reagan National Airport on Thursday. All three children are battling separate health conditions.

Local kids receive special trip to Disney World through Make-A-Wish event

Cheering, crowds, and handmade signs filled the outside entrance to JetBlue on Thursday morning. “My name is Kait and this is my family and we’re going to Disney World!” 9-year-old Kaitlynn Thomas shouted to the crowd, smiling from ear to ear. Kaitlynn and two other children — 4-year-old Samuel and 4-year-old Evelynn — are heading to Disney World with their families as a part of a Make-A-Wish event.

3 DC area kids make a wish and get uplifting send off to Disney World

If you’re going on your dream vacation, you might as well go in style. Three “wish kids” who asked to go to Disney World started their trip Thursday at Reagan National Airport by getting brought to the curb in black stretch limousines. Each child was greeted by a cheering crowd made up of Make-A-Wish workers and volunteers, who cheered the kids on again when they got to the gate.

Northern Virginia teen gives wish to benefit other kids

A Northern Virginia teenager's dying wish is to help lighten the burdens and ease the anxieties of other young cancer patients. The Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic has granted Timothy Bourbeau’s generous wish and donated more than 20 Playstations to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.
