Sponsor-A-Wish Program

If you could have one true wish what would it be? Our wish-granting volunteers ask children facing life-threatening medical conditions this question every day. Since our founding in 1983, the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® of the Mid-Atlantic has granted over 7,000 wishes for area children and their families. In fiscal year 2011, we granted 404 wishes!

This year, there will be more than 700 children in our area diagnosed with life-threatening medical conditions. Your symbolic sponsorship would help to bring hope, strength and joy to a child and family and while allowing you to share the power of a wish^®.

Help Make Wishes Come True Today
Whether you choose to sponsor all or part of a wish, your gift will have an immediate, uplifting impact on the life of a child and will provide treasured memories to last a lifetime. Contributions to our Sponsor-A-Wish program are 100 percent tax-deductible and can be made by individuals and businesses, as well as schools, clubs and other organizations.

$13,700   International Wish Sponsor
Your symbolic gift will help us grant an international wish (the average cost of an international wish at the Mid-Atlantic chapter is $13,700). International Wish Sponsors receive the first name, age, medical condition, and wish type of the next eligible wish child on our list. In addition, International Wish Sponsors receive a commemorative wish plaque once the wish has been granted, recognition as an International Wish Sponsor in the Annual Report, and a donor profile on the Mid-Atlantic chapter website.

$7,500   Wish Sponsor
Your symbolic gift will help us grant a child’s wish (the average cost of a wish at the Mid-Atlantic chapter is $7,500). Wish Sponsors receive the name, age, medical condition and wish type of the next eligible wish child on our list. In addition, Wish Sponsors receive a commemorative wish plaque once the wish has been granted and recognition as a Wish Sponsor in the Annual Report.

$3,500    Wish Partner
Your symbolic gift is partnered with another Wish Partner’s contribution to help make a child’s special wish come true. Wish Partners receive a wish story certificate and recognition in the Annual Report as a Wish Partner.

$1,000   Wish Friend
Your symbolic gift of $1,000 or more is pooled with other Wish Friends’ contributions to grant more than 400 wishes each year. Wish Friends receive a wish story certificate and recognition in the Annual Report.

SPONSOR PROFILE: United Healthcare
Since 2007, United Healthcare has sponsored eight wishes in our community. Recently, they hosted a wish send-off party for Samantha, whose wish is to go on a Caribbean Cruise. The themed party was hosted at the UHC offices, where employees, including the president and CEO, created an ocean-themed celebration complete with sunglasses, cupcakes, oceanic atmosphere and dolphin decorations and keepsakes for Samantha to enjoy. United Healthcare involves its employees in every wish sponsorship. From dressing as cartoon characters and hula skirts and floral shirts to turning a conference room into an enchanted undersea world, every UHC team member is able to share the power of a wish^®!
