Lonnie's wish to be a Super Hero

Lonnie wished to be a super hero!

“ Thanks Lonnie 10, that was a close one! ”

- Dr. Rood

Six-year-old Lonnie, from Hagerstown, Maryland wanted to become his favorite cartoon super hero, Ben 10! So when he found out that he was going to receive a wish from Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, the treatments for his brain tumor didn’t seem so scary.

When the limo arrived at his home to pick him up, along with his parents and six brothers and sisters, his day as “Lonnie 10” had begun. Riding in a special armored motorcade lead by a fleet of motorcycle police, Lonnie’s first stop was the Bureau of Diplomatic Security command center, where he was given a special briefing on his mission to stop the evil scientist, Dr. Re-generator, at the National Museum of Natural History because he wanted to bring the dinosaurs back to life and take over Washington, DC!

There, Lonnie got a special message by phone from Ben 10 saying, “Lonnie, IT’S HERO TIME!”After saving the day at the museum, Lonnie 10 found out that just like Ben 10, he must transform into the good super alien, SpiderMonkey, in order to rescue his own oncologist, Dr. Rood who was being held captive at the Washington Monument. Now dressed as SpiderMonkey, Lonnie was escorted to the Washington Monument once again by his very own Diplomatic Security motorcade, complete with flashing lights and sirens! When he reached the top floor, he subdued the evil aliens with his special light saber. Each one of the bad guys fell helplessly to the ground and Lonnie untied Dr. Rood…thus rescuing the very man who is working so hard to save him. Dr. Rood thanked Lonnie saying, “Thanks Lonnie 10, that was a close one!”

A hero’s welcome awaited Lonnie back at the museum where he enjoyed a special luncheon with a victory cake, balloons and a Super-Gift basket from the Cartoon Network. In came another special message from Ben 10 himself, telling Lonnie that HE is the true hero! A sweet ending to a wish come true!

Upon returning from Emilee's wish trip, her mom shared, "Before Emilee's wish, she often said 'I can't do it by myself' and was afraid of trying anything new. Since her wish was granted, she has become very independent and more willing to try new things. There are no words to express how grateful we are for everything you have done to help Emilee and kids like her. Thank you so very much."
