Sixteen-year-old Marissa from Hyattsville, MD, has always been a fashionista. Although she also enjoys playing basketball, soccer and video games in her free time, Marissa has a passion for shopping and fashion. When Marissa was diagnosed with cancer, she became unable to keep up with many of her favorite hobbies. For this reason, when Marissa learned she would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish®
Mid-Atlantic, she wished to have a shopping spree in Beverly Hills, California.
After a long fight with cancer, Marissa was excited to experience fame and glamour for her wish. Aside from shopping, Marissa was excited to explore California with her family – a place she had always dreamed of visiting. Upon returning from her wish trip, Marissa shared that her wish was “even better than I thought it was going to be.” In addition to a VIP day of shopping on Rodeo Drive, Marissa also received a book signed by Donatella Versace!
Marissa’s wish gave her something to look forward to during months spent in the hospital treating her medical condition. Granting wishes like Marissa’s provides hope, strength and joy to local children fighting life-threatening medical conditions when they need it most.
