Richard, a 9-year-old boy from Towson, Maryland, is fighting a life-threatening illness. Richard's Mom, Susan, contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation^®of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc to refer him. When Richard met with Foundation volunteers he told them that his greatest wish is to have a special fort in his backyard where he can "play with neighborhood friends." He even drew exactly what he wanted his fort to look like. With these special drawings in hand, the Foundation set out to make Richard's wish come true.

The Foundation approached Lilliput Play Homes Inc., a play equipment design and production company. Using Richard's drawings, Lilliput Play Homes created the fort. The company provided fabrication, delivery and installation of the fort, which took place in November. Make-A-Wish^®volunteers and staff decorated the castle fort for Richard's surprise wish party.

The fort's unique features include a drawbridge, hidden room behind the fireplace, telescope, slide, turrets along the top, a courtyard out front, a bucket to bring up treasures and a "no cats allowed!" sign. Richard's design will now become part of Lilliput Play Homes model line.
