Dover, DE

Dover, DE. (September 19, 2013) – Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic invites individuals to participate in Walk For Wishes taking place October 19 at the Dover International Speedway in Dover, DE. All Delaware residents are encouraged to join our three local wish kids to walk the “Monster Mile” to help grant the wishes of other Delaware children facing life-threatening medical conditions. Wish kid team captains are Savannah from Kent county, Billy from New Castle county and Phillip from Sussex county.

Who: Children who have received wishes, their families, other friends and supporters of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic.

When: Saturday, October 19, 2013, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Where: Dover International Speedway, 1131 N. Dupont Highway, Dover, DE 19901

What: Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic’s 2013 Walk For Wishes is a community-wide celebration and effort to grant wishes for local children with life-threatening medical conditions. Walkers of all ages will come together at one of NASCAR’s most unique tracks and enjoy a day that includes the walk itself and ongoing family-fun festivities including great music, face painting, balloon art and other surprises.

Why: To raise awareness and funds so that Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic can continue to serve local children. The average cost of a wish in the Mid-Atlantic region is $7,500. Last year our chapter granted 365 wishes - but for every wish granted, another local child is waiting for a wish. We rely on the financial support of community members to help us grant these wishes.
