Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington, D.C. to Host Exclusive Red-Carpet Premier Party for Local Make-A-Wish® Kid Featured on ESPN Segment to air Aug. 19 as Make-A-Wish® and ESPN Team Up for Annual “My Wish” Series

Bethesda, MD. August 19, 2013 – Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic today announced the organization will partner with The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington D.C. to host an exclusive viewing party when local Washington D.C.-area wish kid Lateef’s story debuts on ESPN Monday, August 19. Lateef’s wish to meet the Washington Redskins was granted in June and chosen by ESPN to be a feature story for the 8th annual summer documentary “My Wish” Series, which profiles sports-themed wishes granted through Make-A-Wish for children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Who: Eight-year-old wish-recipient Lateef of Clinton, Md., his family, his wish volunteers and medical team, as well as the Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic Board of Directors, staff and local partners.

What: A red carpet affair to celebrate the premier of Lateef’s wish experience as a documentary feature on ESPN’s “My Wish” series. After a complimentary black car ride requested through Uber, Lateef and his entourage will be treated to a private VIP viewing party, complete with snacks and beverages donated by The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington D.C., as well as local vendors Georgetown Cupcakes, Pie Sisters, Washington Wholesale and Luke’s Lobster.

Where: Fahrenheit Ballroom at The Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, Washington D.C.
3100 South Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20007

When: Monday, August 19, 2013, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Lateef’s segment will air at 6:00 p.m.

Why: Lateef was eligible for a wish because of his life-threatening kidney condition that has persisted since infancy. The condition became so severe that Lateef received a kidney transplant. His wish, one of nearly 8,000 granted by Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic alone, was to meet his favorite professional sports team, the Washington Redskins. Lateef’s wish came true at the Redskin’s Minicamp in Ashburn, Va, where he was recruited by Coach Shanahan to be an honorary Redskin for the day, met all of his favorite players, including Robert Griffin III, practiced drills with the team and perfected his touchdown dance. Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
