Northern Virginia teen gives wish to benefit other kids


A Northern Virginia teenager's dying wish is to help lighten the burdens and ease the anxieties of other young cancer patients. The Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic has granted Timothy Bourbeau’s generous wish and donated more than 20 Playstations to the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church.

Victor’s dream came true Monday as he became judge for a day, thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Few judges ever get the reception given to the 16-year-old as he arrived at Courtroom 5 inside Hargrove District Court. With the Honorable Jack I. Lesser at his side, Victor had a full docket.

Wish granted: teen becomes judge for a day


It as a day the Halley family won't ever forget. "He was so excited for this," Virginia Halley said. The Maryland Judiciary helped Make-A-Wish grant 16-year old Victor Halley's wish to become a judge for the day. Halley is battling end stage kidney disease and his family doesn't know how much longer he has to live, so they gave him his dream job in a Baltimore City district courtroom.

As 5-year-old Trip Walker munched on chicken tenders and french fries in an upstairs room at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood in East Baltimore, a spokeswoman from Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic talked about how the foundation granted more than 400 local wishes in 2016, but have more than 600 children with critical medical conditions, like Trip, on the waiting list.

Make-A-Wish grants Severn boy with trip to WrestleMania


It isn’t any secret, five-year-old Trip loves to watch wrestling. “Every month, we sit at home and watch the network like a family and he jumps around on the couch and he’s all super excited. And every year, he’s like, ‘Can we go to Wrestlemania,’ and we’re like year we’ll make that happen – one day,” L’Tisha, Trip’s mom, said.

While his battle has certainly been a trying time for him and his family, Will recently found himself in the midst of a positive life-changing experience when he became a member of the Washington Capitals over the weekend.

Capitals treat Make-A-Wish recipient to the ultimate hockey weekend


The Washington Capitals hosted the Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday afternoon and they had a new face on their roster when the starting lineups were announced before the game. 14-year-old Washington Capitals fan William Cody is currently battling leukemia and he got to return to the ice for the first time in two years thanks to the Washington Capitals and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Sunday afternoon the Washington Capitals granted the wish of 14-year-old William Cody. Will’s wish was to become a Capitals player for the day and meet the team. This was able to come true through Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic.
