Cane from Fairfax, VA, loves to write fantasy stories and play video games. His love for animation and fantasy worlds even inspired him to study graphic design. Cane battles Duchenne muscular dystrophy, but it doesn’t keep him from working toward achieving his dream of having his own animated television series. When Cane found out he would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic, he knew he wanted to be the creator of his own animated TV episode!
Cane was thrilled to have the opportunity to watch one of his own ideas come to life. He worked hard developing the plot, script and characters, and was proud to premiere his animated episode I’m Dragon: The Continuing Adventures of an Unlikely Superhero for friends and family on the big screen at the Angelika Film Center and Cafe at Mosaic. In addition to seeing his creation on the big screen, Cane enjoyed a red carpet photo op as well as an after party complete with pizza and cupcakes.
Thank you to Wes, Kim and Max Johnson, DJ and Chrissy Stange and the Angelika Film Center and Cafe at Mosaic for helping to grant Cane's wish. His wish gave him the chance to enjoy something he loves instead of focusing on his medical condition. Granting wishes like Cane’s inspires local children with life-threatening medical conditions and fills their lives with hope, strength and joy.
In case you missed it, you can now check out Cane's wish creation, I'm Dragon, for yourself!
