Fifteen-year-old Rasheed from Capitol Heights, MD, enjoys drawing, spending time with his family and staying as active as possible. Unfortunately, Rasheed was born with a congenital cerebral condition that prevents him from participating in many of the same activities as healthy high school students. When Rasheed found out that Make-A-Wish®
Mid-Atlantic would be granting his one true wish, he wished to go on a family vacation to Hawaii.
Rasheed and his family, including his two younger siblings, are extremely close. His family had never been on a plane before, so they were ecstatic at the chance to go on a family vacation to Hawaii. Before leaving for his wish trip, Rasheed was most excited to have a relaxing, stress-free vacation with his family. He was looking forward to seeing the volcanoes throughout Hawaii as well as attending a luau. Rasheed’s wish trip exceeded all his expectations – not only did he get the chance to see volcanoes, but he did so from the aerial view during a helicopter ride!
Upon returning from their trip to Hawaii, Rasheed’s family said that they were extremely grateful for the opportunity that Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic provided and mentioned that the trip helped Rasheed get through his surgeries while giving him something to look forward to. Granting wishes like Rasheed’s offer local children with life-threatening medical conditions hope, strength and joy when they need it most.
