Jhalil is an avid super hero fan. As a four-year-old living in Baltimore, MD, he also loves watching the movie Toy Story, playing video games on his PlayStation and cheering for his favorite sports team, the Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, when Jhalil was diagnosed with leukemia, it made it hard for him to keep up with all of his favorite activities. When Jhalil found out that Make-A-Wish® Mid-Atlantic would be granting his one true wish, he knew he wanted to focus on his love of super heroes. For this reason, Jhalil decided to have a super hero shopping spree!
Jhalil loves everything about superheroes. For his wish, he wanted to get as many super hero toys as possible so that he would have no shortage of super heroes to play with! Jhalil has a large family with four brothers and sisters, and he wanted everyone to participate in his wish! Jhalil’s day started off with VIP treatment, and he and his family were picked up and escorted around by a limo.
When Jhalil arrived at the store, he couldn’t wait to start shopping. He was able to buy super hero costumes, action figures and games, and even a new television so that he could watch his favorite super hero shows!
Jhalil’s wish shows how important wishes can be to children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses. He was treated like a VIP and was able to have a day that centered around him for reasons other than his disease. Wishes like Jhalil’s can enhance the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
