Anyone who knows nine-year-old Mason from Eldersburg, MD, knows that his big, warm smile and sense of enthusiasm are contagious. Mason refuses to let his nervous system disorder get in the way of his favorite activities and loves playing football, soccer and riding his bike in his free time. Mason also adores the ocean and all of its sea creatures, especially sharks! When Mason found out that he would be receiving a wish from Make-A-Wish®
Mid-Atlantic, he knew that his one-true-wish would be to have a shark experience at the beach.
Mason was thrilled to arrive in San Diego for his very own shark adventure. He celebrated his ninth birthday during his wish trip and was delighted by the chance to swim with sharks. Mason even did a cannonball off the boat and had the opportunity to try snorkeling on the back of his guide!
Mason’s wish allowed his family a temporary break from dealing with his illness and gave them time spent together while Mason enjoyed being a kid. Mason’s mom, Stacey, shared that their family had an incredible time on this much needed vacation and his sister, Madelyn, mentioned that it was “phenomenal seeing him swim with sharks.” Granting wishes like Mason’s enriches the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
